Water Vole Surveys
Estrada Ecology Ltd has a team of fully licenced and experienced staff which is able to survey for the species, along with conducting both large and small scale mitigation and translocation projects under licence.
In April 2008 new legislation came into place to give the water vole increased protection under Schedule 9 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. It is now an offence to intentionally kill, take or injure, possess or sell a water vole. The species is also protected under Schedule 5 of this Act, which makes it an offence to intentionally, or recklessly damage, disturb or obstruct a water voles place of shelter.
The water vole is the largest of the British voles, and occupies banks of rivers, streams, canals, ditches, lakes and ponds throughout mainland Britain.
